Lesson 18: Planets & their Relationships part II...

How do we define a friend?

How do we make friends unconsciously?

Friends have some common features. They think in the same way. They have several common habits. They have more or less same nature and character.

Similarly, planets do have some common characteristics and thus they become good friends.

Then what is the meaning of 'Enemy' here?

Sometimes we may feel that we are loosing our character or our true nature in the presence of a particular person. We may not be very comfortable in the company of this person. This person might be completely opposite to our character. Then we try to avoid his company. What if, we must live our life with this kind of person? Naturally we become enemies.

Similarly, planets do have enemies in this way.

From the above table (mentioned in the previous topic), we can divide the seven planets into two groups.

Planets in these two groups are, in general, friends to each other, while enemies to planets in the opposite group.

These groups are :

Group I : (Sun, Moon, Mars and Jupiter)
Group II : (Mercury, Venus and Saturn)

So, just we have to remember the planets in these two groups!

Planets in Group No. I are Sun, Moon, Mars and Jupiter. These planets are either friends or neutrals to each other, but can not be enemies. Similarly, case with the Group II.

We know that Sun is the owner of Leo. Now suppose Saturn is transiting Leo. What happens?

We know the Sun and Saturn are enemies to each other. Here situation is somewhat like this:

1) With respect to Saturn, he has entered his enemy's house(Leo).
So Saturn is uncomfortable.

2) With respect to Sun, his house been occupied by his enemy. So Sun's house Leo is being afflicted by Saturn.

How did saints decide that Sun and Saturn are enemies to each other?

Because their natures are quite opposite to each other.

Sun is Sattvic while Saturn is Tamasic.
Sun is active(Fire) while Saturn is passive.
Sun is enthusiastic while Saturn is dull (with his miseries).
Sun is selfless in nature while Saturn is greedy and selfish.
Sun distributes light (knowledge) while Saturn is illiterate because he is far away from the Sun.
Sun is a king while Saturn is a slave.
Sun is orthodox while Saturn is unorthodox.
Sun is neat and royal in appearance while Saturn is unclean and dirt with bad smell.

In this way we can have so many differences between them.

For this kind of analogy or symbolism we must know every individual traits of each planet. Some of these are already discussed. Those are enough for the time being.
