Lesson 21: Signs and their Pictorial Symbolism...

We are covering theoretical or intuition part of Vedic Astrology.

In that course, now we are going to learn about Signs. We know that there 12 signs.

Observe the following figure, which illustrate how these Signs can be visualized.

Just concentrate for a while and try to guess why these symbols represent particular Sign...

Above symbols represents some qualities of Signs. However, these symbols may not give true picture of a Sign but represents some of main qualities.

For example, Taurus is symbolized as a Bull. What qualities can be visualized from the bull? Bull is a hard working animal with physical strength. Bull is calm and having great patience, can be aggressive also some times. Like that we can guess some of the main qualities.

12 signs are classified as may ways. Three types of classifications are very important. They are:

Triplicity of a Sign, Quadruplicate of a Sign and Gender of a Sign.

We can derive true qualities of a Sign by blending the qualities of the lord of that Sign, Triplicity quality of the Sign, Quadruplicate quality of that Sign and Gender of the Sign.

We can derive qualities of a Sign from,

1) Lord of the Sign.
2) Triplicity (Fiery or Earthy or Airy or Watery)
3) Quadruplicate (Movable or Fixed or Dual)
4) Gender (Masculine or Feminine)

We should able to derive different qualities of each Sign with the help of above four points, instead of remembering or by heart.

We have already discussed basic qualities of Planets.

We will discuss now Triplicities, Quadruplicates and Gender classifications of 12 Signs and their purpose and meaning.
