Lesson 21: Signs and their Pictorial Symbolism...

We are covering theoretical or intuition part of Vedic Astrology.

In that course, now we are going to learn about Signs. We know that there 12 signs.

Observe the following figure, which illustrate how these Signs can be visualized.

Just concentrate for a while and try to guess why these symbols represent particular Sign...

Above symbols represents some qualities of Signs. However, these symbols may not give true picture of a Sign but represents some of main qualities.

For example, Taurus is symbolized as a Bull. What qualities can be visualized from the bull? Bull is a hard working animal with physical strength. Bull is calm and having great patience, can be aggressive also some times. Like that we can guess some of the main qualities.

12 signs are classified as may ways. Three types of classifications are very important. They are:

Triplicity of a Sign, Quadruplicate of a Sign and Gender of a Sign.

We can derive true qualities of a Sign by blending the qualities of the lord of that Sign, Triplicity quality of the Sign, Quadruplicate quality of that Sign and Gender of the Sign.

We can derive qualities of a Sign from,

1) Lord of the Sign.
2) Triplicity (Fiery or Earthy or Airy or Watery)
3) Quadruplicate (Movable or Fixed or Dual)
4) Gender (Masculine or Feminine)

We should able to derive different qualities of each Sign with the help of above four points, instead of remembering or by heart.

We have already discussed basic qualities of Planets.

We will discuss now Triplicities, Quadruplicates and Gender classifications of 12 Signs and their purpose and meaning.

Lesson 20: Jupiter and Mars friendship...

Mars is of fiery nature with full of energy, aggression and activity. Mars always likes to be the first in starting any venture. He puts his entire energy in the starting of a venture itself and loose his enthusiasm soon and left that venture. If he gets enough encouragement and guidance later he can continue with the venture.

This 'encouragement' is the quality of Jupiter. If Jupiter's support is there to Mars, then any venture can happen without any obstacles.

So here Mars alone can only start a venture. Jupiter can give finishing touch to it. Remember also that, Jupiter alone can not give a better finishing touch by himself if the venture is started by him.

So both, Mars and Jupiter must act as a team to finish a task.

Jupiter always waits for a breakout given by Mars, and then enters the seen and properly control the great energy of Mars.

Our sages named this combination of the team as 'Guru-Mangala Yogam'.

So Mars and Jupiter are friends.

Fiery or aggressive nature of Mars is correctly controlled and utilized by almighty Jupiter for some good purposes (Materialistic).

Best manifested example for this yoga is combination of 'Chaanakya-Chandragupta'. Chaanakya was the Guru of Chandragupta, who perfectly remoulded his disciple's aggression and achieved his life's goal in dramatic way, well known to us.

Mars transit in Sagittarius...
Suppose Mars is transiting Sagittarius whose lord is Jupiter.

As both Mars and Jupiter are friends, definitely result will be a better one.

1) With respect to Mars:
As Mars is in the house of Guru who is sattvic and calm in nature, Mars will also suppress his aggression for the time being and he is able to control is anger in a proper way and also wait for the right time to act again.

2) With respect to Sagittarius:
This sign is being occupied with Mars, latent aggression of this sign will aggregated by Mars for some good purpose. Calmness of this sign will disappear for a while. Some examples:
Spiritual gurus are very calm. Sometimes they become active and aggressive in-order to activate spiritualism in common public.
Sometimes, in stock markets, a good consolidation phase will be beaked out with this kind of transit of Mars. There are so many other combinations, we will discuss later in detail.

For the time being just remember that this 'Guru-Mangala Yog' can create a genuine bull rally in stock markets.

Lesson 19: Sun & Venus enemity...

Sun is a sattvic planet with selfless activities and noble notions.

Venus is a luxurious planet with full of desires and sensual pleasures.

Sun is spiritualistic while Venus is materialistic.

Sun is fiery while Venus is watery.

Sun has no attachment to materialistic comforts while Venus always run after luxurious life.

Venus loves everything related to five senses, music, beauty(opposite sex and paintings), sex(touch), rich food, perfumes etc. and becomes slave to these pleasures while Sun can control these sensual pleasures and thus he is the master not slave to these pleasures.

Now what does happen when Sun transit Libra?

There are two Situations :

1) Sun entered in the house of Venus. That means Sun who is sattvic in nature entered the luxurious house of Venus. Certainly, Sun can not feel good in this tempting environment of Venus and thus he may loose his rigid and royal character and become slave to sensual pleasures while transiting Libra.

2) Libra being afflicted by Sun. That means Luxurious environment of Libra being restricted or controlled by the Sun.
Suppose, Libra represents Bars & Pubs and Sun represents Government, now how can we predict according to situation number 2. We can predict that Bars and Pubs may face some restrictions from the Government. Or Government can rise the tax on Bars and Pubs etc.

Lesson 18: Planets & their Relationships part II...

How do we define a friend?

How do we make friends unconsciously?

Friends have some common features. They think in the same way. They have several common habits. They have more or less same nature and character.

Similarly, planets do have some common characteristics and thus they become good friends.

Then what is the meaning of 'Enemy' here?

Sometimes we may feel that we are loosing our character or our true nature in the presence of a particular person. We may not be very comfortable in the company of this person. This person might be completely opposite to our character. Then we try to avoid his company. What if, we must live our life with this kind of person? Naturally we become enemies.

Similarly, planets do have enemies in this way.

From the above table (mentioned in the previous topic), we can divide the seven planets into two groups.

Planets in these two groups are, in general, friends to each other, while enemies to planets in the opposite group.

These groups are :

Group I : (Sun, Moon, Mars and Jupiter)
Group II : (Mercury, Venus and Saturn)

So, just we have to remember the planets in these two groups!

Planets in Group No. I are Sun, Moon, Mars and Jupiter. These planets are either friends or neutrals to each other, but can not be enemies. Similarly, case with the Group II.

We know that Sun is the owner of Leo. Now suppose Saturn is transiting Leo. What happens?

We know the Sun and Saturn are enemies to each other. Here situation is somewhat like this:

1) With respect to Saturn, he has entered his enemy's house(Leo).
So Saturn is uncomfortable.

2) With respect to Sun, his house been occupied by his enemy. So Sun's house Leo is being afflicted by Saturn.

How did saints decide that Sun and Saturn are enemies to each other?

Because their natures are quite opposite to each other.

Sun is Sattvic while Saturn is Tamasic.
Sun is active(Fire) while Saturn is passive.
Sun is enthusiastic while Saturn is dull (with his miseries).
Sun is selfless in nature while Saturn is greedy and selfish.
Sun distributes light (knowledge) while Saturn is illiterate because he is far away from the Sun.
Sun is a king while Saturn is a slave.
Sun is orthodox while Saturn is unorthodox.
Sun is neat and royal in appearance while Saturn is unclean and dirt with bad smell.

In this way we can have so many differences between them.

For this kind of analogy or symbolism we must know every individual traits of each planet. Some of these are already discussed. Those are enough for the time being.

Lesson 17: Planets and their Relationships...

We had discussed SIGNS and their ruling planets or owners in the previous topic.

Have a look on that topic before reading this topic. If possible remember by heart those lordships.

Planets have some relationships with other planets. A planet can be a friend or enemy or neutral to another planet.

Sun :
Friends : Moon, Mars & Jupiter
Enemies : Venus & Saturn
Neutrals : Mercury

Moon :
Friends : Sun & Mercury
Enemies : Nil
Neutrals : Mars, Jupiter, Venus & Saturn

Mars :
Friends : Moon, Sun & Jupiter
Enemies : Mercury, Saturn
Neutrals : Venus &

Jupiter :
Friends : Sun, Moon & Mars
Enemies : Mercury & Venus
Neutrals : Saturn

Mercury :
Friends : Sun & Venus
Enemies : Moon
Neutrals : Mars, Jupiter & Saturn

Venus :
Friends : Mercury & Saturn
Enemies : Moon & Sun
Neutrals : Mars & Jupiter

Saturn :
Friends : Mercury & Venus
Enemies : Moon, Sun & Mars
Neutrals : Jupiter

If possible, remember these relationships by heart and mind.

I will write how these relationships can be remembered with the help of basic characters of different planets, we had learned till now, in the next topic.
